Westwind Airpark is proud
to report another wonderful flyin memory. We first would like to
thank the ASC (aero sports connection) for there support
and the hard work of Jim
Stephenson and his family in there efforts to keep the ultralight community
safe and strong in numbers. A tough road is ahead in
keeping our dreams and
our bodies alive and well. Looking forward to the Sport Pilot Licensing
and a safe community of happy light aircraft flying,
the flyultralites.com page
and entire crew in East Tennessee are happy to be apart of such an endeavor.
There are many great rewards to flying and the first
one I can think of is being
back on the ground safe after a wonderful memory of the time I just spent
in the air. That's the point folks! Fun and Safe.
As for the events at Westwind
the past couple of days were great! The weather was hampering on the seventh
in Sweetwater, TN but the food and
dedicated people were there.
We were happy to see such a turn out on a rainy windy day. We had many
visitors from all over the Eastern States. Some of
them got to stay through
Sunday and fly but others were still happy to just be around. The Westwind
Crew want to thank everyone that stopped by. It is great
to see the community coming
together for a peaceful event in the Smoky Mountains.
Now even though it rained
off and on through most of the day Saturday there was still some time to
fly in the pattern and plenty of time to visit
with other flyer's around
the patch. We had a lot of fun cooking, eating, telling jokes, and just
being around friends. It is great to meat so many
different people at one
location for a mutual event. You really get a chance to find out how much
you have in common with others when a meeting
takes place. I hope we
get to do this many times again.
So here is how it happened...
Friday evening people were calling and wondering if we would hold the event
on the seventh or the eighth. After
talking with Bob Lewis
we decided to hold the event rain or shine. He said, "it's to late to call
it because of the weather; tell folks to come on."
We did and ended up with
campers and trailers pulling in late Friday ready for some rest. It was
great talking with different pilots on the porch
and just getting to know
one another. Saturday morning the sky was not so friendly but a teaser
if I may. During the day, we caught just enough blue
sky to fly in the pattern
and have a great time. The food may have been enough but the pilots that
we are decided it was safe and time for a ultralight
lesson. One viewed by spectators
and cherished by the instructors.
Sunday rolls around an the
sky was perfect. There were blue sky's with beautiful clouds. Many different
aircraft began to land. The food and fun never stooped.
People of all ages gathered
around for another day of fun. We got some great photos and flew around
with new people with all kinds of aircraft. The pictures
tell the story.
We thank everyone that participated
in the Westwind Fly In and would like to recognize Bob Evans and George
Nanny for an
outstanding musical event.
We love your music and appreciate your time and efforts to help out our
flying community. East Tennessee Ultralites in East
Tennessee is a wonderful
place to be.
Sincerely,
