601XL Wing Fuel Pumps
Well here it is in the making. I spoke
with
Rodger at Zenith about making this and adding a BOTH selector
valve.
He
thought it was a good idea
and acceptable given it was done right. There is enough room as you can
see between the
number 2 and 3 nose ribs to add a faucet
pump. I ended up buying pumps with AN6 fittings to help with space
and
use
less connectors. I am pleased with the
fit
but must advise this is an expensive route if you use good hardware. An
access panel was enviable. You need to be able
tocheck your fuel lines and fittings. Don't
let the last two photos confuse you.
These are pictures of the access
panel
for
the bell crank. I will have more photos
coming
soon with the complete fit. A check valve needs to be used in this
configuration. If a pump fails you don't
want to be transferring fuel to the other tank! There is a lot of
discussion
out there about
fueling a low wing aircraft. Jerry and I
spoke many hours on this subject alone before he convinced me to dig
into
the idea
further. I am happy to have a devils
advocate
on my side. Now for the next challenge...fuel senders.
